La Fornace dates from the 16th century, when it came into being as a furnace for pottery and cotto tiles. It sits in complete privacy at the end of a private drive on a pretty hillside just south of Florence and within one of the key areas of the Chianti wine-growing region.
The old stone building has been carefully restored with old Tuscan materials such as handmade cotto-tiles and wooden beams and it has been converted into a small, cosy home with sensational views of rolling hills blanketed in olive groves, vineyards and woods.
Designed for comfort, the house boasts a beautiful large living-room with open fireplace, a sofa bed and a well-equipped dining room/kitchen area with dish washer, a double bedroom and a large bathroom with a bath tub and a separate shower.
A pretty garden with a patio surrounds this charming house and leads across to a private 4 x 9 m swimming pool on a grassy terrace and a Jacuzzi hot tub. Florence and Siena are easily reached by car or public transport, and there are countless smaller medieval villages and towns within a few minutes' drive.
An ideal place for a couple.
